A pair of student-athletes from Lyon College are the recipients of this year's SLIAC Post-Graduate Scholarship awards; Cristian Del Gobbo and Zoe Papazoglou.
Del Gobbo, a three-year member of the Lyon men's soccer program, is majoring in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Data Science. A native of Pedaso, Italy, he holds a 4.0 grade-point average and is looking to focus his graduate studies on Applied Mathematics with an emphasis on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Del Gobbo founded and served as President of the AI Club and Bitcoin Club at Lyon College and also serves as the President of the International Student Association. He co-founded the Data Science Consulting Club and serves as a mathematics tutor on campus. In addition Del Gobbo has represented Lyon nationally, attending the National Conference of Undergraduate Reserach.
Papazoglou, was a four-year member of the Lyon women's soccer program. She is majoring in Political Science and Psychology and holds a 4.0 grade-point average. In addition to her success in the classroom, Papazoglou has been an active member on campus and in the community. She volunteers at the Children's Advocacy Center and serves on the Student Government Association, including two years as its President. She has been a Resident Assistant on campus for three years and member of the Social Council since 2022. She is also the Service Chair for Alpha Lambda Delta and Director of Communications for Mortar Board. A member of the Lyon College SAAC, she has spent time visiting local elementary schools, volunteering with community beautification projects, and participating in recycling initiatives. Papazoglou's graduate plans include attending law school and pursuing a career dedicated to advocacy.
