Year in Review - RECORD BOOK

The 2025 SLIAC Women's Track and Field season included some dominant individual performances. Greenville captured both the indoor and outdoor championships for the fifth straight year with thrower Talahiva Talanoa taking home both Field Athlete of the Year awards. 

Talanoa closed out her historic career by earning Indoor All-America honors in both the weight throw and shot put and qualified for outdoor nationals in both the shot put and hammer throw. Her performance at the SLIAC outdoor championship was historic, setting three conference records and she leaves with 18 combined medals. 

Principia's Sana Udoekong burst onto the scene in 2025, being named the Indoor Track Athlete, Indoor Track Freshman, Outdoor Track Athlete, and Outdoor Track Freshman of the Year. The freshman set conference records for both indoor and outdoor 200 meters. She ended the year with seven combined medals including four gold medals. 

Spalding University's Eryn Rataiczak also shined in her freshman season, being voted the Indoor Field Freshman of the Year award after capturing gold and setting a new conference record in the pole vault. She would go on to become the first Golden Eagle to qualify for indoor nationals. 

During the outdoor season it was Greenville's Kenzie Kurdys taking the headlines in the pole vault. Kurdys won her second straight gold in the event and furthered her own conference record in the event while qualifying for nationals. She would go on to earn All-America honors after finishing 8th at nationals. Her teammate TyKiaza Jones also picked up All-America honors in the 100-meter hurdles and collected three gold medals at the SLIAC Championships.

Brooklyn Kelly was named the Outdoor Field Freshman of the Year, becoming the first Owl to receive a major individual track and field award. 

Other records to fall during the 2025 indoor season was the 400 meter dash (Taylor Tucker), 60-meter hurdles (TyKiaza Jones), 4x400 meter relay (Greenville), high jump (Anna Beth Vancil), shot put (Talahiva Talanoa), and weight throw (Talahiva Talanoa). Outdoor records that fell were 100-meter hurdles (TyKiaza Jones), 3000 Steeplechase (Gretchen Carie), 4x400 relay (Greenville), shot put (Talahiva Talanoa), discus (Talahiva Talanoa), and hammer (Talahiva Talanoa).
