The Greenville University softball team had its 2025 season come to a close this weekend with a pair of losses in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament.
Greenville opened the tournament with a 2-1 loss Nebraska Wesleyan on Thursday. Nebraska Wesleyan plated two runs in the top of the second inning, taking advantage of an error and sacrifice fly. Greenville cut the lead in half with a run in the third inning.
The Panthers threatened in the fifth inning, putting a pair of runners on but were unable to push across the tying run. They left another runner stranded in the next frame and had the tying run at second base with two outs in the seventh but a line drive to right field ended their hopes.
Greenville faced Bethany Lutheran next in the double elimination format, falling 4-1 on Friday. Greenville managed just two hits in the game, scoring their only run in the third inning on an RBI single by Josie Grunloh.
Greenville finishes the 2025 season with a 37-6 overall record. The tournament was held in Bloomington, Illinois and this was the second straight year the Panthers made an appearance.
