Eureka College Athletic Director Sara Shaw has announced the hiring of Jared Sotelo as the 10th head coach in the history of the Red Devils softball program.
"We are pleased to welcome Coach Sotelo to our staff," Shaw said. "He brings a tremendous amount of college coaching experience and softball knowledge as well as a strong commitment to student-athlete development. His passion for developing players and teaching the game was evident during the interviewing process. We are looking forward to seeing where he takes our program and are thrilled our student-athletes will benefit from his excitement for the sport and his desire to build a strong program here at Eureka."
"I am honored to be named the Head Softball Coach at Eureka College," Sotelo said. "Thank you to Sara Shaw, our Director of Athletics, for this incredible opportunity. I am excited to build on Eureka's rich history and look forward to growing and elevating the program to a higher standard. A program that the community and alumni can be proud of. To grow and thrive like the ivy."
Sotelo joins the Red Devils with over a decade of collegiate softball coaching experience across the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA levels. His diverse coaching background includes key roles at Buena Vista University (NCAA DIII), the University of Mary (NCAA DII), Park University (NAIA), Ottawa University, and Paradise Valley CC. At Park University, he played a foundational role in launching the softball program, recruiting a full roster in just three weeks.
Most recently, he served as head softball coach at Mountainside High School in Arizona, where he successfully launched the school's first-ever softball program. Prior to that, he made a significant impact as an assistant coach at Yavapai College (NJCAA DI), helping the team achieve a top-five finish in the ACCAC.
Sotelo is also a former professional baseball player and holds a Master's in Education with a focus on Organizational Leadership and Adult Learning from Park University, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Sports Studies from Ottawa University.
