Panthers Add Another Men's Track and Field Title

Although it was the closest championship race since 2019, in terms of team points, Greenville University still kept it's hold on the SLIAC Outdoor Track and Field trophy, winning their 9th consecutive title. Greenville totaled 231.5 points, besting the the next closest team by 93.5 points. That is the third closest margin of victory in conference history behind the 2018 (51 points) and 2019 (76 points) titles. 

Greenville collected 17 medals en route to their 2026 championship including five gold medals. Ty Kellum brings the title of fastest man in the conference back to the Panther program after a one-year absence. Kellum set a new championship time of 10.37 seconds and gives the Panther program five of the last six winners. Teammate Neko Gibson edged Kellum out in the 200 meters with a time of 21.43 seconds. Mason Clayton becomes the first runner from Greenville to win the steeplechase since 2022 while Keenan Powell pushed his own SLIAC record in the triple jump with a mark of 49'2.5" to capture gold. Eric Mitchell collected gold in the shot put with a winning mark of 49'2.5". Greenville also swept both relay races.

Webster University finished 2nd in the conference with 138 points thanks to three golds and nine total medals. Freshman runner Brayden Halter collected two of his team's gold medals, winning the 800 meters and 1500 meters. Mark Govero won his second straight gold in the pole vault with a mark 15'9". 

MUW had its best performance since joining the conference, finishing 3rd in the standings with 104 points. Mikendall Morris becomes the second consecutive Owl to win gold in the 110 hurdles while Tyler Bohannon claimed the Owls first gold in the high jump with a championship record mark of 6'7". Malachi Morgran also grabbed a pair of silver medals while Noel Kellum finished 3rd in the discus. 

Principia College also finished with over 100 points, with 101, marking the first time in conference history four teams have topped 100 points at a championship. Nana Koranteng was a point machine for Principia, winning gold in both the long jump and 400 hurdles and adding silver in the triple jump. Mark Fisher took home his second straight gold in the hammer while throwing parnter Marc-Quan Daniels added two bronze medals. Zach Proctor collected a pair of silver medals. 

Spalding University totaled 70 points on the weekend with Chad Dahl and Wyatt Frye taking home gold for the Golden Eagles. Dahl won the 400 meters with a championship time of 48.46 seconds while Frye won the javelin and added a bronze in steeplechase.

Blackburn College had a historic weekend, finishing with 49 points and placing 6th. After never winning a medal in the previous eight championships the Beavers took home three medals including the program's first gold medal this weekend. Leland Branstner etched his named into the Beaver record books as the first gold medalist, winning the discus with a throw of 137'11". He also collected silver in the shot put with the 4x100 relay team of Tyler Tarallo, Byron McNeil, Landan Tribble, and Tristan Toss finishing 3rd.

Finishing 7th was Eureka College with 39 points. Bailey Webster shined for the Red Devils, taking home three medals including a pair of golds. He placed 1st in the 10,000 meters and 5000 meters and is the first Red Devil to win gold since 2017. He also finished 2nd in the 1500 meters.

Lyon College collected 24.5 points. Jimmy Barrios had the best outing for the Scots with a 4th place finish in the pole vault. The 4x100 relay team of Zechariah Rankin, Michael Woods-Caw, Nikolas Guerra, and Jeremiah Hopkins also finished 4th. 

Westminster College grabbed 12 team points with the 4x100 relay team of Henry Warfel, Chase Arnold, Weston Jennings, and Nikolaus Thieman picking up four of thoe points. Thieman also took home a bronze medal in the javelin.
