Lyon Storms Back to Win SAAC Challenge

Lyon College used a big push in the final months of the school year to win its second consecutive SLIAC SAAC Challenge Award. The Scots put up over 20,000 in the final semester to finish with 30,648 points. 

The Scots had participation from every conference program during the year. Among their community projects was a clean up of Polk Bayou, a stream located in Batesville, Arkansas that flows into the White River. Lyon also held numerous sport camps, visited elementary schools, and vounteered at local events.

MUW placed second in the race with 29,239 points, marking the closest race since the conference first started recognizing schools for their community service. The Owls, who held the lead after the winter season, made a good push for their first award in school history by putting up 8,295 points this spring. Their biggest event in the spring was a Easter Egg Hunt for the community and helping pickup trash around Columbus.

Finishing third was Westminster College with 13,080 points. The Blue Jays were active in a variety of events; including campus clean-up, volunteering at games, and the Skulls of Seven service day.

Blackburn College tallied 6,765 points for a fourth place showing. Women's Basketball was the most active athletic program for the Beavers this year.

Princpia College accumulated 5,870 points this year. The Panthers participated in canned food drives and delievered Thank You cards for the local community.

Webster University compiled 3,557.5 points. Among the activities held by Webster SAAC was hosting Special Olympics athletes at halftime of a home basketball game, creating tie blankets for Project Linus, and volunteering at Girls on the Run.
