Four women's wrestlers from the SLIAC have qualified for the NCWWC Nationals in Coralville, Iowa on March 7-8. This is the second the conference has sponsored women's wrestling and the first time that multiple conference schools have had a wrestler qualify for the national tournament.
Schreiner had three wrestlers qualify this season. The Mountaineers competed at the Region VIII Regional in Denton, Texas. Odelia Lopez (103 pounds) and Azana King (145 pounds) each finished as runners-up in their weight class to qualify while Lexys Basurto placed 4th at 124 pounds.
McKenzie Cook is the first wrestler from Eureka College to qualify for the national tournament. Cook earned her spot at the Region VI Regional over the weekend, placing 2nd at 145 pounds. Cook picked up a 9-6 win in her quarterfinal match before pinning the 12th ranked wrestler to advance to the championship match, where she lost by technical fall.
