With their 1-0 double overtime win on Saturday afternoon the 2025 Lyon College men's soccer team made history, becoming the first Scot program to advance to a NCAA Division III Tournament. Lyon, who joined the SLIAC in 2023, was ineligible for the first two years of conference play until becoming a full NCAA member at the start of the 2025-26 academic year.

Lyon, the #3 seed, edged out top-seed, and host Greenville University 1-0 to win the league's automatic bid to the national tournament. Lyon and Greenville played a scoreless game that was held in check by several standout stops by each of the team's keepers.

Greenville's Tian Poyo's best moment came in the 70th minute when he made back-to-back stops on a two-on-one break by the Scots. Gabriel Rangel kept Lyon in the game when he came up with a big save just one-minute into overtime.

Lyon finally found the back of the net in the 104th minute of the game. The Scots were pressuring the box, forcing Poyo to come up with another stop. However the Scots gathered the loose ball and Lucca Torres flipped it in for the game-winner at 103:31.

Lyon improves to 10-6-3 overall and awaits the announcement of the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament field on Monday.
