2026 SLIAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Awards

11/4/2026 8:55:49 AM

With an undefeated conference season on the books for the Webster University program, it was evident the team benefited from standout seasons. That was further proved by taking home both the SLIAC Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Alberto Duque Gonzalez was voted the league's top offensive player. The senior midfielder led the conference with 7 conference goals, nearly doubling the next closest player. He led the conference with 28 shots and finished with 16 points and two game-winning goals. He is the 11th player in program history to win the award and the second consecutive, joining teammate Scott Price.

The Gorloks were not just impressive on offense as they also take home the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year after goalkeeper Jakub Samelko's performance this fall. The sophomore keeper played in seven conference games, compiling a league leading 0.29 goals-against average. He stopped 16 shots and recorded 4 shutouts during conference play, allowing just two goals against conference opponents. He is the 7th player in program history to win the award but the first keeper to do so. In fact he is just the fourth keeper in conference history to win the award.

The 2026 SLIAC Freshman of the Year is Alberto Hernandez, from Principia College. The forward put up 3 goals and 2 assists for 8 total points in his seven conference games. He finished with 20 shots, putting 9 on goal, and recorded one game-winning goal this season. Hernandez is the 3rd Panther to win the award, joining Kaleb Keller (2017) and Wizzy Afrani (2022).

This year's Coach of the Year is Webster's Nenad Curic. Curic, in his fourth season, led the Gorloks to an undefeated conference record, going 8-0; while finishing 8-2-4 overall. By winning all eight conference games this fall, the Gorloks became the first program to win every conference game in a season since 2016. Curic is the 11th winner of the Coach of the Year award in program history and the first since Mike Siener won three in a row from 2020-22.

The final award is the Team Sportsmanship award, which goes to Eureka College.
