This past October Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) groups collected nearly $9000 in its second conference wide Pink October. Pink October is a conference wide campaign to help raise awareness for the fight against Cancer while also collecting donations to help families in their fight as well as research. All month long SLIAC schools held various events and fundraisers and totaled $8461 in their collections.

During the month various athletic programs wore pink jerseys and warm-ups to raise awareness while also holding raffles, gift baskets, and 50/50 ticket sales to collect money. What started out with the Dig Pink Foundation for volleyball has grown to include soccer programs (Kick Cancer) and other non-profit organizations in the fight against Cancer.

Westminster College led the way, raising over $3500. The Webster University volleyball program, a long-time participant in the Dig Pink Foundation, collected just under $1200, and along with the Gorlok women's soccer team brought the total funds collected by Webster to over $2600. Fontbonne University has reached four digit collections, totaling $1020 on their Dig Pink night. Other schools joining in the campaign were Blackburn College, Eureka College, Lyon College, MUW, and Spalding University.
