YEAR IN REVIEW - RECORD BOOK

From opening serve it seemed as though Greenville University and Westminster College were destined to do battle for the top spot in the 2025 SLIAC Volleyball season. Westminster opened the year by winning five of their first six matches and sweeping the weekly award for the first three weeks of season. Greenville meanwhile hit their stride in mid-September; winning its first eight conference matches. The two teams split the regular season series and entered the postseason as the two clear top seeds. They were the only programs to reach 20 wins overall and double digit wins in conference play, securing first-round byes in the conference tournament. 

Both squads swept their semifinal matches and set up a championship match between the two programs for the sixth time in league history. In what could arguably be the best volleyball championship match in SLIAC history the two teams went to five sets, marking the first five-set championship match since 2017. Down 13-9 in the final set Greenville rallied back to win 18-16 thanks to the net defense of Mia DeJesus. 

The conference championship was the 10th in program history for Greenville. The Panthers also became the first team in conference history to have teammates take home both top individual All-Conference awards, with Abby Grohmann wining the Player of the Year award and Claudia Bonacorsi being named the Defensive Player of the Year. 

Dalton Tucker was named the SLIAC Coach of the Year after leading Westminster to a conference record 28 wins during the season while Blackburn's Rylea Black became the first Beaver to win Freshman of the Year. 

Westminster's Meghan Nolte was a three-time Player of the Week winner and closed out her career finishing in the top ten in SLIAC history in hitting percentage. The Greenville duo of Lainey Hicks and Mia DeJesus also find themselves in the top ten in the SLIAC in career blocks while teammate Emma Ratterman is poised to move up the list in career assists where she already sits in 7th place.
