YEAR IN REVIEW - RECORD BOOK
The 2025 SLIAC Women's Soccer season will go down as a memorable one for Spalding University. For the first time since 2015 the SLIAC Women's Soccer Championship game went to penalties and it was Spalding that advanced 6-5. It marked the second championship in program history, which also needed extra time.
Spalding's success was due to exceptional team defensive effort that saw them set a new conference record with 15 shutouts including 12 consecutive. The final piece of that Golden Eagle defense was netminder Sophie Young-Neawedde, who set a new conference record for consecutive scoreless minutes with over 1150.
Neawedde was named the SLIAC Freshman of the Year, one of four Golden Eagles to receive a top individual award from the league. In fact Spalding became just the second program in conference history to sweep every All-Conference individual award. Jordan Vejar was named the Coach of the Year while Emerson Kirn was the Defensive Player of the Year.
Emma Livingston was the Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in scoring, reaching the 20-goal mark for the season and setting a program record with 21. She ranked 5th in NCAA Division III in goals, 6th in game-winning goals, and 8th in points.
