Batesville, AR - Lyon College Athletic Director Kevin Jenkins is pleased to announce the appointment of David Butterfield as the new Head Baseball Coach.

"David has been an integral part of our baseball program for the past two years and has demonstrated a tremendous commitment to the success of our student-athletes both on and off the field," said Jenkins. "His knowledge of the game, recruiting ability, and leadership within the program made him the clear choice to lead Lyon Baseball into its next chapter. We are excited about the future of the program under his direction."

Butterfield's involvement with Lyon College has been marked by significant accomplishments. During his tenure as Assistant Coach, he helped guide the Scots to a commendable 49-35 overall record, including 26 conference victories. Under his coaching, the team made their first semifinal appearance in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament. His efforts have also been instrumental in the development of several standout players, including 11 SLIAC All-Conference Team members, a SLIAC Tournament team member, two USCAA All-Americans, and twelve USCAA All-Academic Team members.

"I am excited to step into this new role as Head Baseball Coach at Lyon College," said Butterfield. "Lyon has a strong tradition, outstanding people, and a community that cares deeply about developing student-athletes both on and off the field. Our goal will continue to be to develop young men who compete with passion, represent Lyon College the right way, and pursue success. I look forward to building meaningful relationships with our players, alumni, and supporters as we move this program forward together.

Before Lyon, he served as a high school teacher and coach at Clarksville Christian School, where he mentored youth in both academic and athletic capacities. He brings a solid playing background, having competed as an infielder for five seasons at Harding University, where he also served as a Graduate Assistant Coach.

A native of Smyrna, Tennessee, Butterfield holds a Master's Degree in Kinesiology and Sports Management and a Bachelor's in Education from Harding. He lives in Batesville with his wife Tyler, daughters Ella and Maylee.
