Spalding University, who ranked among the league leaders in scoring this season, were blanked 4-0 by Lake Forest College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament.
The Foresters kept the Golden Eagle attack at bay all day long, holding them to just seven shots; ten below their season average. Meanwhile Lake Forest got off 21 shots of their own, putting six on net.
Lake Forest started the game's scoring in the seven-minute mark on a goal by Maddie Vasquez. They picked up another goal ten-minutes later and tacked on two more in the second-half.
Spalding goalkeeper Sophie Young-Neawedde made two saves in the contest as Spalding concludes the season with a 14-5-2 overall record.
