Lyon College's first NCAA tournament trip came to an end on Saturday with a 7-2 loss to #10 ranked Bowdoin College. The Scots, who made the move to NCAA Division III in 2023, became eligible for the postseason this year; securing the SLIAC automatic bid after winning the conference tournament.
Host school and nationally ranked Bowdoin pushed their attack early, getting on the board just six-minutes into the contest. They followed with four more goals in the first half and tacked on two more in the second half.
Lyon found the back of the net in the 33rd minute on a goal by Andre Rodriguez. After a free kick sent the ball into the box, Rodriguez found the bouncing ball and ripped a one-timer from 15-yards out that went in off the cross bar.
The Scots notched another goal with just over seven-minutes left in the game. Matheus Nunes stepped in front of a claring pass and slipped a pass to his teammate, Tiago Donadon, who pushed the ball past the keeper for the Scots goal.
Bowdoin out shot Lyon 28-5 in the game and held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Gabriel Rangel stopped eight shots in the contest for the Scots, who finish the year with a 10-7-3 overall record.
