Greenville Takes Home First All-Sports Trophy

For the first time in school history Greenville University took home the SLIAC All-Sports Trophy. Greenville finished with an average score of 9.00, nearly 1.8 points higher than its next closest competitor. 

Greenville had seven first-place finishes and an additional share of a regular season title while not finishing below fifth place in any of their 13 sponsored sports. The Panthers took home titles in Men's and Women's Cross Country, Indoor Men's and Women's Track and Field, Outdoor Men's and Women's Track and Field, and a share of the title in Men's Basketball. They also finished second in softball and third in Women's Basketball and Women's Soccer. 

Coming in second place was Webster University with a score of 7.21. Webster had a pair of first-place finishes, winning the regular season title in Women's Soccer and Women's Basketball. 

Lyon College finished third in its first year in the conference with a score of 7.03. Their best finish was in men's soccer where they tied for first-place while also finishing second in Men's Basketball, Women's Wrestling, and Baseball. 

Placing fourth was Spalding University with a 6.73 score. The Golden Eagles claimed a regular season title in Baseball and also took top points in Women's Golf. 

Next was Fontbonne University with a score of 6.65. The Griffins won the Softball regular season title and tied for regular season titles in Men's Soccer and Men's Basketball. They also had second place finishes in Men's Cross Country, Women's Soccer, Volelyball, and Indoor Men's Track and Field. 

MUW finished with a score of 5.33 in its innaugural year in the SLIAC. Their top finish was in Men's Golf where they won the championship. They also placed second in Women's Golf, Women's Indoor Track and Field, and Outdoor Women's Track and Field.

Westminster College finished with a 5.19. The Blue Jays collected second place points in Men's Wrestling and Women's Basketball. 

Principia College finished with a score of 4.58. The Panthers best finish came in Women's Cross Country, placing second at the conference championships. 

Eureka College had an average score of 4.24 with its best showing coming in Men's and Women's Wrestling where they took top point totals. 

Blackburn College scored a 2.03 this year.  The Beavers top finish was in Men's Basketball and Men's Golf, collecting five points from each. 

Greenville becomes just the 5th school in SLIAC history to win the award, joining Fontbonne University, Maryville University, Webster University, and Westminster College.

The All-Sports Trophy recognizes the school with the most success during the academic year across all conference sponsored championship sports. The score is based on an average of each team's finish based on the regular season standings or, in team sports, their finish at the conference tournament.
