YEAR IN REVIEW - RECORD BOOK
A look back at the 2025-26 SLIAC women's basketball season begins with its ending, the tournament. Last year's tournament was one of the closest tournaments in recent history with four of the five games being decided by under 10 points. Webster extended its conference record by winning its 8th title in program history.
Meanwhile Principia College, who won the 2025 title, won a share of the regular season title; marking the first time in program history they accomplished that feat.
The season saw several players rise to prominence; highlight by the season-long battle in the paint between Mia Bown and Savanna Lopez. The duo ranked nationally in blocked shots with Bowen finishing second and Lopez ranking third. Bowen became just the third player in conference history to reach triple digit blocks in a season and was named the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year while Lopez finished with 99 blocked shots, giving her 231 in her career; ranking her 4th in SLIAC history.
Fellow Scot, Natalya Kaza was named the Player of the Year after leading the conference with 22.0 points per game, ranking 7th best in conference history.
Spalding University's Zaneiya Batiste concludes her career as the conference's leader in rebounds, totaling 1,210 over her four years. Batiste finishes with the top two rebounding seasons and matched her own SLIAC record by averaging 15.6 rebounds per game. She set the single season record for double-doubles with 20 and finished with 39 in her career, second most in SLIAC history. She also holds five of the conference's top ten marks for rebounds in a game including 32 back on November 25, 2025.
