YEAR IN REVIEW - RECORD BOOK
Last year's SLIAC men's basketball season comes down to one of runs. Webster University started the year in an impressive fashion, winning its first 15 conference games en route to a 15-1 SLIAC record and a 23-4 overall record. The team that stopped the Gorloks run was MUW, who then closed the year with an impressive run of their own.
MUW won seven in a row at the end of the season, including wins over Webster in the regular season finale and the SLIAC championship game. That earned the Owls the conference automatic bid to the national tournament, marking the program's first-ever trip.
The Owls run was sparked by the stand out season from forward Tray Huguley. The sophomore averaged 22.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, recording 18 double-doubles on the season, while shooting 64-percent from the floor and was named the SLIAC Player of the Year. His teammate Joe Haze Austin was the Defensive Player of the Year after recording 97 steals, the fourth most in conference history, and ranking 3rd in the SLIAC in blocked shots.
Spalding University's Lekendrick Morris was nearly unstoppable in the paint. The freshman forward shot 71-percent from the field, the second best percentage in conference single season history.
