Webster Closes Gap in All-Sports Race

Webster University closed the gap in the SLIAC All-Sports race but Greenville University still holds the lead by more than 1.5 points. 

Greenville, which has won the last two All-Sports trophies, sits in first place with an 8.11 average. The Panthers added to their five first-place finishes from the fall with two more in indoor track and field. 

Meanwhile Webster used a strong winter season to jump two spots in the standings, finishing with a 6.39 average. The Gorloks had first-place finishes in both men's and women's basketball and notched a second-place showing in men's indoor track and field; totaling more points in the winter sport season than they did in the fall despite competing in one fewer sport. 

Principia College's 5.81 average puts them in third place in the standings. Principia's best showing was in women's basketball, where they tied for first-place in the regular season. 

Lyon College sits in fourth place with a score of 5.71. They recorded 7.5 points in men's basketball and took home a fourth-place showing in women's indoor track and field. 

Westminster College comes in with 5.25 points with the wrestling program's highlighting their winter season; combining for 15 points. They also picked up third place points from women's basketball. 

MUW increased their scoring average by nearly a full point, jumping up to 4.90 after the fall season. The Owls boosted their point total thanks to finishing in the top three in three different sports. The men's basketball team tied for second-place while their women's indoor track and field team placed second and the men's team finished third. 

Sitting in seventh place in the standings with 4.85 points is Spalding University. The Golden Eagles finished in the top half of the league in all four of their winter sports with the women's indoor track and field team picking up seven points to lead the way.

Eureka College holds a 3.71 average. The Red Devils wrestling program's were the best performers, earning the top spot at their championships among SLIAC core members, accounting for a combined 18 points.

Blackburn College concluded the winter season with a 3.68 average. The men's wrestling program paced the Beaver teams with six points thanks to a fourth place finish at their first conference championship.
