Year in Review - RECORD BOOK

The University of the Ozarks claimed their second straight SLIAC Championship after taking home seven individual titles. The Eagles had four wrestlers tally at least 20 wins during the season including Shelton Chastain's 32 wins. Javin Douglas took home Freshman of the Year honors while Demetri Teddlie qualified for nationals. 

The star of the conference championship was Austin Cooley, from Schreiner University. The heavyweight recorded a pair of wins by pin and a 9-1 victory in the final match of the championship. He would go on to pick up All-America honors after finishing 5th at nationals. 

Also qualifiying for nationals was Westminster College's Austen Wetzel. The sophomore qualified at 184 pounds and set a new conference record with 37 wins this past season. Michael Roberts tied his own conference mark with 21 pinfalls. 

Six wrestlers were named Scholar All-Americans: Shelton Chastain (Ozarks), Zander Payne (Ozarks), Gabriel Sheikh (Ozarks), Demetri Teddlie (Ozarks), Austin Cooley (Schreiner), and Cole Harrell (Westminster).

In addition to record setting performances during the season from Wetzel and Roberts, Ozarks Shelton Chastain became just the second SLIAC wrestler to top 30 wins in a season with 32. Austin Cooley set a new season win percentage at .879 while Demetri Teddlie set a new career mark at .765.
