After winning their fourth SLIAC Tournament, the Webster University baseball team learned yesterday that they will be traveling to Moline, Ill., for the Central Regional hosted by Augustana College (Ill.). The Gorloks will be the #4-seed in the six team Regional and will face the #3-seed Ripon College in the first round on Wednesday, May 19, at 7:00pm. The other four teams in the Regional include #1 Buena Vista, #2 North Central (Ill.), #5 Rose-Hulman and #6 Illinois Wesleyan.

As the 2010 Spring baseball and softball seasons come to an end, several SLIAC teams and individuals remain ranked in the top 20 in the national statistical rankings.

In the latest NCAA Division III baseball statistical rankings, Webster is ranked fifth in Home Runs (53.0), ninth in Home Runs per Game (1.23), 15th in Earned Run Average (3.78), third in Hits Allowed per Nine Innings (7.76) and 14th in Won-Loss Percentage (.791). Greenville College is also ranked 13th in Base on Balls (210.0).

Individually, Greenville's Stefan Neece has dominated in several categories. He is ranked first in Home Runs (19.0), first in Slugging Percentage (1.085), first in On Base Percentage (0.663), first in Base on Balls per Game (1.29), first in Base on Balls (54.0), eighth in Batting Average (.487), third in Home Runs per Game (0.45), 11th in Runs Batted In per Game (1.6), third in Runs Batted In (67.0) and 14th in Total Bases (127.0). Also ranked in the top 20 from the SLIAC are Webster's Will Savage and Bryan Stanley, Principia's Samuel Thomas and Eureka's Clay McConkey. Savage is ranked sixth in Earned Run Average (1.71) and fourth in Hits Allowed per Nine Innings (5.37). Stanley is also ranked 10th in Hits Allowed per Nine Innings (6.03). Thomas is ranked 10th in Victories (9.0) and McConkey is ranked 14th in Strikeouts (85.0).

In the NCAA Division III softball national statistical rankings, Fontbonne University is the lone team ranked in the top 10. The Griffins are ranked seventh in Stolen Bases per Game (2.37). Individually, Greenville's Angie Doherty is ranked sixth in Home Runs per Game (0.33) and 20th in Home Runs (11.0), Blackburn's Grace Young is ranked 10th in Slugging Percentage (0.895) and Kariann Hill is ranked 17th in Hit by Pitch per Game (0.24) and Fontbonne's Kourtney VonBehren is ranked 12th in Hits Allowed per Seven Innings (4.05).
