SLIAC Players of the Week - October 16

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week include Mia Gill, Sophia Hathaway, Kornell Hilliard, Meghan Illig, Lauren Nuelle, Justin Schmidt, Anna Whitaker, and Shane Witters Hicks.

 

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 16

Kornell Hilliard, Spalding University

Hilliard, a forward from Louisville, Ky., picks up his second nod as SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week this season. Hilliard helped the Golden Eagles to a pair of conference wins last week, including a 2-1 win over defending tournament champion Westminster. He tallied a goal and an assist in a 5-0 victory over MacMurray and was a constant threat in the match with eight shots. Hilliard closed out the week with both goals in a 2-1 win over Westminster, maintaining his SLIAC lead in total points. 

   

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 16

Justin Schmidt, Webster University

Schmidt, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., led the Gorlok defense to a pair of wins last week including a 1-0 shutout win over Westminster. Schmidt and the Gorloks blanked Westminster, who came in averaging five goals and 22.6 shots per conference game. The shutout win was also the Gorloks second conference shutout this season.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 16

Lauren Nuelle, Webster University

Nuelle, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., led the Gorloks to a pair of conference wins last week, to remain undefeated in conference play. Nuelle started the week with a pair of goals in a 4-1 win over Westminster including netting the game-winner. She followed with a goal and an assist against MacMurray and finished the week with seven points in her two outings.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 16

Anna Whitaker, Fontbonne University

Whitaker, a senior from East Alton, Ill., was effective in leading the Griffins to a pair of wins last week; both defensively and offensively. Whitaker and the Griffins allowed just four combined shots on the week. In her team's win over Blackburn, she also picked up three assists, giving her four on the season.

   

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 16

Sophia Hathaway, Principia College

Hathaway, a junior from South Pasadena, Calif., paced the Panthers attack last week, recording three double-doubles. She had a high of 25 kills in a four set match against Fontbonne, adding 22 digs. On the week Hathaway averaged 4.25 kills per set, finishing with 51 kills in three matches. She totaled 54.5 points while hitting .250 and adding 5.42 digs per set.

   

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 16

Mia Gill, Principia College

Gill, a junior from Elgin, Ill., grabs her third weekly award this year after helping the Panthers to a pair of conference wins and securing a spot in the SLIAC Tournament. Gill averaged 7.8 digs per set over three matches last week including a high of 40 digs in a five-set thriller against Webster. 

 

SLIAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 16

Shane Witters Hicks, Principia College

Witters Hicks, a senior from Golden, Colo., picks up his fourth weekly conference award this season after his performance at the Cowbell Classic. Witters Hicks completed the 8K course in a time of 25:36, a new personal best on the home course. He finished 23rd out of a field of 354 runners that was filled with nationally ranked teams.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 16

Meghan Illig, Webster University

Illig, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., paced the Gorloks at the Cowbell Classic this past weekend. Illig finished the 6k course in a time of 25:06, setting a new personal best time this year. This marks the second time this season that Illig has been named the conference Player of the Week.

  • Madison Ahrens, Principia College (Women's Soccer) Led Panther defense that picked up back to back shutout conference wins while adding a goal and two assists.
  • Lily Brauer, Webster University (Women's Soccer) Helped the Gorlok defense limit opponents to just one goal and two shots on goal over 180-minutes of play last week.
  • Clarice Bruch, Principia College (Women's Soccer) Recorded three goals and one assist in two wins for the Panthers last week.
  • Victoria Curtice, Fontbonne University (Volleyball) Finished with 27 kills and 12 blocks in three matches last week while hitting .404.s
  • Jacob Dixon, Fontbonne University (Men's Cross Country) Dixon set a personal best time with his run at the University of Evansville Invite.
  • Anna Finch, Greenville University (Volleyball) Finch his .435 on the week, helping Greenville pick up three wins.
  • Ryan Gonzalez, Webster University (Men's Soccer) Recorded a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over MacMurray, helping the Gorloks remain undefeated in conference play.
  • Adam Jones, Greenville University (Men's Soccer) Picked up two goals and an assist in a 6-1 win over Eureka.
  • Ashley Kistaitis, Westminster College (Volleyball) Had back to back 20 kill matches while recording three double-doubles on the week.
  • Corey Schmidt, Fontbonne University (Men's Soccer) Tallied five points in a pair of conference wins for the Griffins last week.
  • Olivia Wall, MacMurray College (Volleyball) Recorded a career-high 28 kills in five sets against Fontbonne. 
  • Meredith Wendt, Fontbonne University (Women's Soccer) Extended her point streak to three games after tallying three goals in two games last week.
